Serving Denver since our first sober house
Our continuum
A Continuum of Care Built to Last Longer Than 30 Days
Most rehab programs are one thing: a 30-day residential stay, or an outpatient group, or a sober house. Mile High is all of them, connected. That matters for two reasons. People who stay engaged in treatment longer do better (NIDA). And the hardest part of recovery is usually not the first month. It is the sixth.
Our programs are designed as steps. You start where the clinical assessment says you should. You move down a level when you are ready. The therapists, the medication, the community and the house you live in all come with you. Nobody finishes a program and lands in nothing.
Coordinated with partners
Detox Coordination
We do not provide medical detox on site. If you need supervised withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines or opioids, admissions arranges a bed with a Colorado detox partner we work with regularly. We bring you to us the day you are medically cleared. One call handles both.
24/7 ยท 12 beds
Inpatient and Residential Treatment in Denver
This is our 24-hour level of care. Twelve beds in Denver’s Congress Park neighborhood, staff on site around the clock, daily individual and group therapy, and a schedule that gives the brain time to settle. We recommend at least 30 days, and longer when it is clinically needed. People sometimes call this inpatient rehab. Strictly speaking, inpatient means hospital-based medical care and residential means a longer stay in a home-like setting. Ours is the latter.
Full day ยท 5 days a week
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Full-day clinical programming, five days a week, without the overnight stay. Most clients step down into PHP from residential; some start here when home is stable but a weekly appointment is nowhere near enough. Many live in our sober housing during PHP.
Day or evening
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Several hours a day, three or five days a week, day or evening schedules, while you live at home and keep your job or stay in school. The same therapists as residential and PHP. IOP usually runs 8 to 12 weeks.
Suboxone ยท Vivitrol
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Suboxone for opioid use disorder and Vivitrol for opioids or alcohol, prescribed and monitored by our medical team and combined with therapy. MAT starts in residential if you need it and continues through PHP and IOP; changing levels never means losing your prescription. We do not offer methadone.
Nine homes across Denver
Sober Living in Denver
Mile High began as a sober house in 2016, and we still run nine of them across Denver. Structured, substance-free homes with house meetings and accountability built in, for clients in PHP or IOP and for the months after.
7 days a week
Alumni Program
Groups seven days a week, events, and a community of hundreds of people across Colorado who got sober here. You join it on your first day of treatment and it does not have an end date.
Choosing a program
Finding the Right Level of Care
A few honest rules of thumb.
If you are still drinking heavily or using opioids or benzodiazepines daily,
โ
detox comes first.
If home is where the using happens, or you have relapsed from outpatient care before,
โ
start residential.
If you have a stable home and people who support your recovery, and a weekly appointment is not enough,
โ
PHP or IOP.
If you are not sure, that is what the assessment is for.
It is a confidential conversation with admissions, with insurance verified in the same call, and it ends with a recommendation you are free to argue with.

What levels of care does Mile High Recovery Center offer?
Residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), medication-assisted treatment, sober living and an alumni program. Medical detox is coordinated through Colorado partners before you begin.
What is the difference between inpatient and residential treatment?
Inpatient usually means hospital-based care with medical monitoring during detox or stabilization. Residential means a longer stay in a home-like setting focused on therapy and recovery skills. Mile High’s 24-hour level of care is residential; detox and medical stabilization happen with our partners first.
How long is treatment at Mile High?
We recommend at least 30 days in residential, PHP and IOP add several weeks to months, and the alumni program has no end date. Most clients stay connected to us for several months.
Can I move between programs?
Yes, that is the design. Clients step down from residential to PHP to IOP as they stabilize, and can step back up if they need to, with the same clinical team throughout.
Do you treat mental health conditions in every program?
Yes. Every level of care is dual diagnosis. Psychiatric assessment at admission and medication management when appropriate are part of residential, PHP and IOP.
Dual diagnosis
What We Treat
We treat substance use disorders and the mental health conditions that so often come with them, at the same time, with the same team.
Alcohol, fentanyl and other opioids, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepines, prescription drugs, marijuana and hallucinogens.
Anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, bipolar disorder, ADHD and schizoaffective disorder, with psychiatric assessment at admission and medication management when it makes clinical sense.
Congress Park, Denver
Our Denver Treatment Center
Our treatment center is at 1633 Fillmore Street in Denver’s Congress Park neighborhood, a few minutes from downtown and under an hour from the foothills. The residential program has 12 beds, so you will know everyone on your clinical team by the end of the first week. Group rooms, a shared kitchen and outdoor space are part of daily life, and our nine sober living homes across Denver give clients a place to live during and after outpatient care.
Since 2016
Who We Are
Mile High Recovery Center began in 2016 when Brice Hancock opened one sober house in Denver. Today there are nine homes and a treatment center accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by LegitScript. A lot of our staff are in recovery themselves, which is why nobody here is going to judge you, and why hundreds of alumni still show up to groups every week.
