Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Denver, Colorado
Mile High Recovery Center’s intensive outpatient program in Denver gives you several hours of addiction treatment a day, three to five days a week. You live at home. You keep your job or stay in school. We run day and evening schedules, treat mental health alongside addiction, prescribe medication-assisted treatment, and have sober living if you need it. Most clients are in group within a day of verifying insurance.

IOP Addiction Treatment That Fits Around Your Life
Intensive outpatient is the level of care for people who need real clinical structure but cannot, or should not, step out of their lives to get it. You come to our Congress Park center for group and individual therapy several days a week, then you go home. The same therapists who run our residential and PHP programs run IOP, so if you are stepping down, nothing resets.
IOP fits three kinds of people. Those stepping down from a higher level of care. Those with a stable place to live and people who support their recovery. And those who need more than a weekly therapy appointment when a residential stay is not realistic right now. If home is where the using happens, or you have relapsed from outpatient care before, we will probably recommend starting higher. The assessment is honest either way.
3-Day, 5-Day and Evening IOP Schedules in Denver
3-Day IOP
Three treatment days a week, several hours each. Built for clients with strong support at home, or who are a few weeks out of residential or PHP and holding steady. Enough structure to keep you accountable, enough room to work full time.
5-Day IOP
Five days a week for clients who need more contact: early in recovery, after a slip, or when the week has too many empty hours in it. Still outpatient, still home every night, but with the frequency of care closer to PHP.
Evening IOP
Groups after work for professionals, students and parents who cannot be here during the day. Same clinical program, same therapists, later clock.
Your schedule can change as you go. Most clients start at five days and step down to three as things stabilize.

Substance Use and Mental Health Conditions Our Denver IOP Treats
Dual Diagnosis IOP
Anxiety, depression, trauma and bipolar disorder travel with addiction more often than not. Our IOP treats both at once, with psychiatric assessment at intake and medication management when it makes clinical sense. Dual diagnosis treatment
Alcohol IOP
Alcohol is the most common reason people come to our IOP. Groups focus on triggers, cravings and the social situations where drinking lives, with Vivitrol available to take the edge off the cravings. Alcohol addiction treatment
Opioid and Fentanyl IOP
Opioid recovery in an outpatient setting works best with medication. Our IOP pairs therapy with Suboxone or Vivitrol prescribed by our medical team, and the overdose-prevention planning that fentanyl makes non-negotiable. Opioid addiction treatment
Meth and Cocaine IOP
Stimulant addiction runs on impulsivity and environment. CBT, peer recovery and a structured week give clients tools to interrupt the pattern before the weekend does. Methamphetamine | Cocaine

Sober Living and IOP Together in Denver
If home is the problem, you do not have to choose between outpatient treatment and a safe place to sleep. Mile High started as a sober house, and we still run nine of them across Denver. Many IOP clients live in one while they attend groups: structured, substance-free, with house meetings and accountability built in. Mile High Sober Living

Congress Park, Denver
Our Denver Treatment Center
Our treatment center is at 1633 Fillmore Street in Denver’s Congress Park neighborhood, a few minutes from downtown and under an hour from the foothills. The residential program has 12 beds, so you will know everyone on your clinical team by the end of the first week. Group rooms, a shared kitchen and outdoor space are part of daily life, and our nine sober living homes across Denver give clients a place to live during and after outpatient care.
Since 2016
Who We Are
Mile High Recovery Center began in 2016 when Brice Hancock opened one sober house in Denver. Today there are nine homes and a treatment center accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by LegitScript. A lot of our staff are in recovery themselves, which is why nobody here is going to judge you, and why hundreds of alumni still show up to groups every week.
What is an intensive outpatient program?
An intensive outpatient program is structured addiction treatment several days a week, several hours a day, without an overnight stay. It includes group therapy, individual therapy, relapse prevention and mental health care while you live at home and keep your daily responsibilities.
How is IOP different from inpatient or residential rehab?
In IOP you live at home and come in for scheduled sessions. In residential treatment you live at the center with 24-hour support. IOP is for people who are stable enough to manage daily life outside treatment; residential is for people who need more structure or a safer environment.
How many days a week is IOP?
Our IOP runs three or five days a week, several hours per session, with evening options. Most clients start at five days and step down to three as recovery stabilizes.
How long does IOP last?
IOP commonly lasts 8 to 12 weeks, though the length is set by clinical progress rather than a fixed calendar. Many clients continue in alumni groups and sober living afterward.
Can IOP treat mental health and addiction together?
Yes. Our IOP is a dual diagnosis program. Anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder and other conditions are treated alongside substance use, with psychiatric assessment and medication management as part of care.
Do you offer medication-assisted treatment in IOP?
Yes. Our medical team prescribes and monitors Suboxone and Vivitrol as part of IOP, along with mental health medication management. We do not offer methadone.
Is IOP covered by insurance?
Most commercial plans cover IOP when it is medically necessary, and Mile High accepts Colorado Medicaid. We verify benefits before you start and explain any out-of-pocket cost up front.
