Jescia, JD, MSW

Clinical Director, Mile High Recovery Center

For more than 25 years, Jescia has had the privilege of living in recovery from addiction—a journey that transformed not only her life but gave her a profound sense of purpose. Her own experience with the suffering caused by addiction both deepened her humanity and awakened a lifelong calling to help ease the pain and confusion of individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. She believes that recovery is about far more than abstinence; it is about engaging in the beautiful process of making meaning in life, discovering the wonder and joy of connection with self, others and a greater purpose, and most importantly, finding peace in one’s own heart. She holds true to the idea that these things can happen as a direct result of having experienced the seemingly pointless suffering of addiction.

Before entering the behavioral health field Jescia was an attorney and, though she found trial law exciting, she discovered it was not her true vocation. She graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law with both a JD and a master’s degree in Latin American Studies in 2010. At the time, she had ten years of recovery. She then practiced law as an assistant district attorney in two different jurisdictions in the state of New Mexico. She realized her heart was not in the law and returned to graduate school at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico to obtain a master’s degree in social work. She graduated from that program with her MSW in 2020 and has been working in addictions treatment ever since.

As Clinical Director at Mile High Recovery Center, Jescia is grateful and happy to work alongside a wonderful team of compassionate and highly skilled professionals who share an unwavering commitment to helping others heal from addiction.  She believes deeply in the mission of Mile High Recovery Center and considers it an honor to serve in an organization where clinical excellence, integrity, and genuine human connection guide every aspect of care.  She brings both professional experience and lived experience to work, believing that healing is most powerful when it is grounded in empathy, humility, and hope.

As a result of growing up in both New Mexico and Colorado, Jescia has a deep love for the landscapes of the American West—the scent of rain on desert earth, the energy of high mountain rivers, and the quiet beauty of wide-open spaces. Outside her clinical work, she is an artist whose work centers on the ever expressive human face and form, reflecting her admiration and respect for the resilience, vulnerability, and dignity of the human spirit.
